8 Reasons You Need a Clymer Manual

Posted by

Some motorcycle riders visit the shop every time their bike needs service. That’s okay for some that can afford it (motorcycle mechanics charge a premium for simple maintenance anyone can do), but half the fun of owning a motorcycle is tinkering with it and making it your own. Besides the money, there is also a time penalty involved in having to locate a place that works on your older or uncommon bikes. For the DIY motorcycle (or personal watercraft, snowmobile, ATV, boat, etc) enthusiast, here are eight reasons why a Clymer manual can be the best tool in your toolbox.

American vs. Japanese Motorcycles

Posted by

America and Japan are very different countries, with different cultures and styles, but on top of that there are the basic physical differences. The Japanese motorcycle industry really got going after WWII, when they needed light, reliable machines to get around a country that had been heavily damaged by the war. The American industry, and Harley-Davidson specifically, has been plugging along since the dawn of motorized transportation, building big torquey machines great for eating up the miles.

There is a vast ocean between the West Coast of the US and Japan, and there’s practically a 5,500-mile gap between the way that Americans and the Japanese think about motorcycles, not only how they ride, but also how to build them.… Read the rest

Born Free 10 Sails Into Oak Canyon Ranch – Silverado, CA 6/23-24/2018

Posted by

Surprisingly, one of the biggest and best annual motorcycle shows, Born Free, is only hitting its tenth anniversary this year. Taking place in the mountains of Orange County, CA, at a cross between a kids summer camp and a KOA, there is plenty of room for people and motorcycles, and few neighbors to upset with your loud pipes.

That is just one part of one of the bike parking lots and at the end of the day when many people had already left! Without a drone, it is impossible to get a real picture of just how many bikes were there.… Read the rest

The Congregation Vintage and Custom Motorcycle Show – Charlotte, North Carolina

Posted by

The Congregation Show, only in its second year, is quickly rivaling the likes of Austin’s Handbuilt Show, The One Show in Portland, OR, and LA’s Outlier’s Guild Moto Show. Hosted by DICE Magazine, Harley-Davidson and operated by the boys of Prism Supply, this vintage motorcycle show features a variety of talented custom builders from around the country.

This year’s show saw over 5,000 attendees, 120 motorcycles, 25 hot rods and over 40 vendors. One of our favorite parts of the show is the venue: Camp North End. It’s a former Ford Model T assembly plant, across an alleyway from Prism Supply’s shop in Charlotte, North Carolina.… Read the rest

The 2nd Annual Outlier’s Guild Custom Motorcycle Show – L.A., CA

Posted by

Southern California is one of the largest motorcycle markets in the country, even without the northern half of the state, so it has its fair share of motorcycle events over the course of the year. Not only are there plenty of enthusiasts to attend, the vast majority of motorcycle aftermarket companies are all within 150 miles of Los Angeles, and most of the big Japanese motorcycle manufacturers are headquartered there. One of the newest and hippest shows, returning for just the second year in 2018, is the Outlier’s Guild Motorcycle Show, aka the OG Motoshow.

The show is set up in a large space in the downtown L.A.… Read the rest
