1974 Yamaha GT80 Mini Bike – 2013 HoAME Show Best Mini Winner

Back in the 1960s and 1970s, it seemed that all the cool kids had a mini bike of some sort, and the Yamaha GT80 like this best mini bike winner, was one of the coolest. Clymer caught this perfectly restored example at the 2013 Heart of America Motorcycle Enthusiasts vintage motorcycle rally, looking like it had never been ridden.

Clymer Girl and the crew didn’t have to go far to attend the HoAME show and rally, as it was just up the road at the Kansas City Airline History Museum in the Downtown Airport. Clymer On the Road visited the 22th Annual Heart of America Motorcycle Enthusiasts (HoAME) Vintage Motorcycle Rally/Show and got a close up look at the 1974 Kawasaki Z1 900cc superbike of Dale Keesecker. This bike took home the 2013 trophy for Best 1970s Superbike, presented by Clymer Manuals. You can be sure he used one of our Kawasaki Z1, KZ900 & KZ1000 manuals or else our Vintage Japanese Street Bike Collection manual to get it just right.
