1982 Honda CX500 Turbo – As Seen at RadWood L.A. 2018

The folks from Clymer took a good close look at this techno tour de force 1982 Honda CX500 Turbo at the RadWood show at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.

When first produced in 1978 the Honda CX500 water cooled V-twin was their most advanced bike. It was only their second water cooled motor, after the GL1000 of 1975, and their first V-twin. The centrally located cam may appear to be a step backwards, but it allowed a lower profile motor with the cylinder heads slightly twisted for less intrusion into the rider’s knees. Progressive International Motorcycle Show – Long Beach, CA 2018

For decades now the International Motorcycle Shows have toured America (and sometimes Canada) giving riders a chance to see, sit on, and sometimes even ride the latest bikes, before they hit their local dealers. For riders in Long Beach, CA it is nice to see all the new bikes in one place, but not particularly special, since it is 70 degrees and sunny outside and most ride to the show. But when the show stops in New York City, Chicago, or Minneapolis it is always a treat, because if there isn’t snow yet, at the very least it is too cold to ride.… Read the rest
